Searching for AMAZING EDUCATORS – that’s YOU!

It takes a big heart to shape little minds, and therefore we are seeking YOU, the very best educator with the biggest heart, to join our awesome team of superheroes at Gowrie. If you want to make a positive difference to people small and tall, we very much welcome your application.

When educators join Gowrie, they are joining a team of professionals dedicated and committed to putting the care, education, and development of young children at the forefront of everything we do. Everyone at Gowrie takes on the very special role of being a lifelong memory maker for children; like a superhero (without the cape), as we know that every child has the right to have a champion that will never give up on them.

Gowrie is a community-based organisation dedicated to children and families. We first opened our doors in 1940 – well over 80 years ago. We are the oldest early childhood education and care provider in Western Australia, and we have stood stoic and proud for over eight decades as we navigated all that history has adorned us with. We may not have the flashiest looking centres (due to our age), or dozens of centres scattered around (because we are not part of a big chain of profit driven centres), but what we do have is amazing and valued teams, amazing nature play based outdoor environments, stacks of high quality resources, an incredibly rich history and centres that ooze it, and a culture of team work, supporting each other, and putting children first. Our operational purpose puts money back into our centres and services, into our people, and into the children … not into our pockets or the pockets of shareholders.

We reward our staff by:

  • Offering well above Award hourly rates
  • Having access to a huge range of employee perks and benefits such as discounts at shops and cinemas
  • Extra paid leave at Christmas and centre closure so our staff can be with their families and friends
  • Paid professional development
  • Financial contribution by Gowrie towards CIII and Diploma traineeships (for some this pays for the whole course)
  • Discounted childcare fees for team members
  • Attractive and comfortable uniform
  • Paid programming/non-contact time
  • Cookies and cupcakes!

At Gowrie we value childhood, relationships, responsiveness, quality and lifelong learning. We nurture the potential of the formative years for the benefit of children, families and community. We strive to enable each child to reach their full potential and place great emphasis on providing holistic and positive experiences for children, families, the community, and our people. We offer services and high-quality care and education in our early learning centres, and add value to children and families through programs at our family and community centre.

Integral to all Gowrie roles are the personal attributes of our people, the desire to be part of a positive team culture and to possess a can-do attitude. Gowrie takes the approach to empower, promote collaboration, positive culture, recognise responsibility, hold accountability, educate and mentor.

Key responsibilities of Gowrie Educators:

  • Dedication to Gowrie’s purpose, values, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Commitment to the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework
  • Adherence to the Early Childhood Code of Ethics and to role modelling the ethics
  • Displaying innovation and professionalism
  • Displaying the desire to make a positive difference and shape the future for children by providing opportunities to imagine, explore and discover, as well as exceptional care
  • Being the best you can be and inspiring and guiding children to reach their full potential
  • The desire to be a team member that is supported and supportive

What you will need:

  • An infectious and inspiring can-do attitude
  • Effective communication skills
  • Full Australian working rights
  • A Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or a willingness to undertake the qualification through a work-based traineeship where you get paid while learning.

Gowrie is committed to the safeguarding of children and young people. The appointment of all successful applicants will be conditional upon a satisfactory Working With Children Check and National Police Clearance.

If you would like to work for one of the few community-based services left in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector in Western Australia, and not for one of the big for-profit private companies, then Gowrie may just be the place for YOU.
